Love Stories and Fairy Tales

Are you sitting comfortably…?

Love stories and fairy tales are part of our lives from a very early age with most children’s books and films featuring a version of a heroine and a handsome prince in one form or another. Whether you prefer Beauty and the Beast, Rapunzel, or Frozen there is a common theme to the end of the stories: “…and they all lived happily ever after”.

As we grow older, many of us realise that our version of handsome princes or beautiful princesses are not waiting around the corner ready to sweep us off our feet – the reality of love is perhaps not as easy as the fairy tales would make us believe! But this week, Team ICC are living the love story with our very own Operations Director, Sarah, who is celebrating her engagement to Matt and we are all overjoyed for them both!

Engagement is a moment filled with excitement, hope and deep emotion. It’s the start of planning a future together – one filled with shared goals, laughter and experiences, and the inevitable ups and downs that come with any meaningful journey. But the joy of a proposal isn’t limited to the couple alone. Family and friends often feel a surge of happiness and excitement too. Witnessing two people commit to each other can be profoundly moving, and it sparks memories, celebrations, strengthened feelings and heartfelt conversations.

Whether it’s a quiet proposal (Sarah tells us hers was on the shore of a remote lake in Finland with a beautiful sunset to boot!) or a grand gesture, getting engaged says, “We’ve found something special, and we’re ready to build on it.” One of Sarah’s friends described it as ‘sunshine inside’ which we think is a very good way of putting it!

This fantastic news has buoyed us all and we are so happy to be witnessing Sarah and Matt taking the next step together! Have you found your handsome prince or beautiful princess? Let’s end the summer with some homemade fairy tales – please share them with us
