Springtime: the perfect time to resurrect your goals

Bring your goals back to life

The ICC team all enjoy a healthy dose of exercise on a regular basis and the recent Spring sunshine in the UK has been a great excuse to get outside and enjoy the fresh air, a change-up from indoor winter training.

However, on a rainy day last week Sarah took the opportunity to jump back on the Peloton. And it was during this ride that she heard the instructor speak about purpose and the importance of goals. He asked, ‘Why are you here in this class? What is going to make you stay until the end? Perhaps you’ve got a long-term goal, like a race in a couple of months that you’re training for. Perhaps your goal is medium to long-term, like putting in the work now in order to feel confident to enter a race or tackle a challenge next year. Or perhaps short-term goals keep your motivation levels high, like: finish this workout and reward yourself with your favourite Mexican meal!’

At ICC we strongly believe in the importance of having a super-clear purpose at work, and setting goals that are in total alignment with it. Sarah’s Peloton instructor provided a solid reminder that these principles translate very well to other areas of our lives too.

How often do we take the time to truly think about what we want to achieve this month / this quarter / this year? Goals that might be relevant across every aspect of our lives: work, health, fitness, home improvement, personal development, ‘me time’, and many others.

Springtime is synonymous with new life (think blossoming flowers and skipping lambs) so it seems to us that now is a great time to resurrect our New Year goals, re-calibrate if we need to, and re-double our efforts to achieve our desired results.
